Don't use a PLC based CNC Controller

Why not just use a PLC? I hear you say.

Before System Electronics Pty. Ltd introduced its iCON range of controllers, using a PLC might have seemed a reasonable way to retrofit an industrial machine with an aging electronic controller.

The problem with using a PLC for such a retrofit is that it – by definition – has to be programmed for the specific machine and many of those who offer such a service are experts in programming PLCs but often have little understanding of the actual machine to be automated.  And, if they take the time to become proficient in this sort of machinery, the retrofit will be unnecessarily and unjustifiably expensive.

In sharp contrast, the iCON range of CNC Controllers avoids all these problems and offers tremendous benefits. System Electronics has been designing cnc controllers for almost 30 years and the designers have an intimate knowledge of a wide range of industrial machines, particularly in the sheet metal industry. They not only understand the efficiencies and quality that management require but also the practicalities that are of paramount importance to the actual operators; things like having uncluttered screen clarity where essential information is available at a glance.

Each of the CNC controller applications in the iCON range has been subject to extensive and rigorous testing both in the laboratory and in real life factory situations. Its suitability, reliability and consistency are proven.
