Precision Measurement and Control

 1. Precision of Measurement

  • Quadrature Counting:
·    150 KHz high speed quadrature counters (non-balanced) are used to capture position information from linear and rotary transducers. The on board counters employ digital filtering to assist with noise immunity. The counting is by on-board dedicated hardware counters. Count values are read and memorised. Count values are retained at power down.

·         Count resolution range: 32 bits or about 4 billion counts.

.         Display readout resolution for most applications is 0.01 mm. or 0.001"

·         Rotary and linear devices are supported. Open Collector driven inputs preferred.

·         Index pulse supported
·         Transducer excitation: select 5 or 12 V DC

  •  Analog:
·         Quad 16 Bit ADC option
·         +/- 5 V DC excitation
·         Non balanced

2. Precision of Control
  •   Digital to Analog Converter Outputs

    ·     12 bit DAC servo drive outputs +/-10 V DC resolution +/-2048 counts

  •  Pulse Width Modulation
·         Power driver modules includes 8 x 1A FET PWM drivers
·         0-2000 count resolution at 200Hz.
Generally, these specifications are more than adequate for the control of servo electric and hydraulic systems. iCON is a precision instrument designed to ensure as high a level of accuracy  and control as possible.

3. System Diagnostics on board

  • System currents and voltages are monitored by iCON
  • On board temperature measured
  • Output currents to control devices are monitored.
  • Output current templates flag error currents to control devices in real time.
